A few fish and chips that have been discontinued by McDonald’s
The Food Network and McDonald’s are now the subject of a lawsuit alleging they discriminated against Asian consumers.
The complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta alleges that the fast food chain discriminates against Asian customers by not offering them as many of the same items that white customers can enjoy at its restaurants.
The suit names McDonald’s as defendants, though it does not name the restaurant chain directly.
“McDonald’s, in its failure to offer the same product assortment of Asian and African American customers at its outlets as whites, is in violation of the Fair Housing Act,” the complaint says.
The lawsuit seeks to ban McDonald’s from marketing products with “Asian or African American stereotypes” to consumers who have no connection to the Asian community.
The restaurant chain is also the subject, according to the lawsuit, of complaints from Asian-American customers that they are “left to eat whatever the company wants to eat.”
McDonalds has denied that it discriminates based on race.
The company also said it has a “strong record of providing opportunities to consumers of all races and ethnicities.”
McNuggets has also said that it “continues to promote and promote products that reflect the diversity of our communities.”
